Checking In With My 2015 Goals

Checking In With My 2015 Goals

I set several goals for myself in the year of 2015. Some have been going great and others haven’t been going at all.

I had two goals in the beauty department: embrace lip liner and continue chipping away at my stash. I was doing great with lip liner at the beginning og the year and then I reorganized my desk and as the saying goes “out of sight, out of mind.” I need to pull them back out and keep them in view so that I remember to use them. My decluttering has been going great. I’ve managed to full cut off my makeup shopping. I’ve only been making repurchases when an item fully runs out so I’ve pretty much only been buying skin care, which honestly is wear the bulk of my money should have went in the past. The better your skin care, the less makeup you need. That’s just a fact.

I had one very simple hair goal – take better care of it. And to my own personal astonishment I went and chopped it all off to start anew with fresh healthy strands. All of the died and damaged hair is now officially goal and I’ve been doing my best to treat my curls with love and respect. I’m kicking ass with this goal!

My one fashion goal was to revamp my shoe collection. I haven’t really bought any shoes recently, but I’m quite happy with my sandals and wedges. I like to keep footwear simple in the summer. I have tan and black sandals and wedges and that’s good enough for me. I like to play with shoe style more in fall and winter so I’ll be keeping an eye out for fun new styles and classic staples.

Financially, I’m still struggling a bit with my goal to build my savings. I’ve been investing in building my blog and YouTube channel so not much to put aside at the moment.

My final goal was to get in shape. While I don’t feel I’ve dedicated myself to get the aesthetic results I was looking for I do feel a lot stronger. I can even run a mile, which is astonishing to me because I flat-out hate running. I still have a lot of soul-searching to do to find the strength to really commit. I just haven’t and I need to.

With just over half the year behind us I think I’m doing better than I though I would with working on my goals. My savings and fitness need more dedication but I’m not discouraged. I know I can do anything I put my mind and energy in to so it’s just a matter of actually doing that.

My Fitness Goals

Don’t you wish salad was more like pizza? I would eat so much more salad. Pizza is my favorite food. I could literally eat pizza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday. Constant consumption of pizza is probably one of the reasons for my post-college weight gain. It doesn’t help that I sit all day long at work either.

I’m at the point in my life now where if I don’t take responsibility for my health and fitness I probably never will . I don’t want to keep saying that I’ll eventually workout or I’ll start eating better next week. Why keep pushing it off? Why not do it now? So that’s what I’m doing.

Aside from my pizza addiction, I usually eat pretty well. Austin and I love cooking and making our own food, which gives us a lot more control over what actually goes into our bodies. Where we really need to make improvements is with our physical activity. We go to work, come home, make dinner, clean, and then we are exhausted. That can’t be an excuse anymore.

As motivation to take control of my life I wanted to set some goals to work towards, both short term and long term.

Short Term Goals

~ Meal Planning. We’ve actually been doing this for a few weeks but I really want to stick with it. It saves money and assures that we eat well.

~ Going to the gym 3 times a week. I would eventually like to go more often and derive more value out of my membership, but for now I don’t want to burn myself out. My body is sore and I need to give it an adjustment period.

~ Loose jeans. I know loosing weight and getting fit is tough. I won’t be broken-hearted if I don’t drop a pant size right off the bat, but it would be nice if I could feel my pants getting looser. That would be great motivation.

~ Take advantage of ClassPass. I would love to take a selection of classes to diversity and keep interest in my routine and ClassPass allows me to do that by giving me access to fitness classes at studios all over the Baltimore area.

Long Term Goals

~ Feel good. Look good. My ultimate long term goal is to feel great inside and out. I’m never going to be super thin and I’m never giving up my pizza, but I think with hard work and dedication and can feel healthier and get my body looking damn sexy.

We Joined A Gym

new shoes

Me and Austin joined a gym! We’ve been talking about it for a while so when our local Retro Fitness ran a pretty sweet deal we decided it was time. Our joining fee was waved and we are getting the next two months free. That’s a pretty sweet deal in my opinion. We had our first workout tonight and I’m nervous I’m going to be so sore tomorrow.

Since I’ve had the same gym shoes for nearly 6+ years I pretty much needed to get new shoes. I bought my last trainers from the kids section (yes my feet are that small) and they lacked the cushion and arch support I really needed. I found these New Balance shoes in the clearance section of ¬†DSW. Aren’t they fabulous? The color is really amazing, they are incredibly comfortable and, the best part, they were $35! I love browsing through the DSW clearance section – so many hidden treasures.

While we are on the topic of fitness, I have the pleasure of sharing some very exciting news with you guys. ClassPass has officially launched in Baltimore! ClassPass is a service that gives you access to all of the best fitness studios in your area for one price. If you are someone who loves switching up your routine it’s really a much better value than joining multiple studios. Or, if you are like me and are searching for a favorite class and studio ClassPass is a great way to get to experience the best studios in your area for one price. Paying a $10 or $20 drop in fee can quickly add up, especially when you are studio hopping.

I’m signed up for my first ClassPass beginners yoga class tomorrow and I fully intend to take as many classes over the next month as I can so I can report back to you guys about what I loved and what really worked for me.

Not in Baltimore? Not a problem. ClassPass is now in over 20 cities so be sure to check out their website to see if they are in a city near you.

I have to say a big thank you to ClassPass for giving me the chance to try out all of these classes and their program. Goals for 2015

Goals for 2015

New Year’s Resolutions. We all make them and then we all forget them. Part of the great thing about blogging is that the new year’s resolution post is a necessity and thus for better or worse I have a published account of what I hope to accomplish in my next year. Looking back on my goals for 2014 I think my list was far too long, but I did manage to check a few things off. This year I think I’ll make fewer resolutions and I’m thinking of doing a mid-year update on how everything is going, but we’ll see if I actually remember to do that come July.

Goals for 2015:

  • Embrace lip liner. I’ve hit the point in my life where my old lady lines are starting to appear and in the worst possible place. I have the tiniest fine lines showing up around my lips and you can’t even see them until a lipstick starts to bleed, which I’ve never experienced before this year. So while I generally skip lip liner out of laziness I want to make an effort to incorporate it more often.
  • Continue using up many of my products and decluttering my stash. I had this goal last year and I think I did a decent job. I want to continue making efforts to use everything I buy and the add-on to this goal is to declutter. I’m sure there are things in my collection I’ve acquired from one means or another that I likely will never use. I have a whole decluttering series planned for the next month of so hopefully I’ll be able to condense just a bit.
  • Get in shape. No more bullshitting. I’ve had this goal for quite some time now and I’ve procrastinated like crazy. It’s not that I have a ton of weight to lose but I am only 5 feet tall and even just a few pounds makes a significant different on my small frame. I’m really tired of looking like a stranger and feeling out of shape. And really, if I’m quite frank, I can’t stand my boobs being so big. They look proportionate but I just don’t care for having larger boobs.
  • Build up my savings. My savings account is laughable to say the least. I really want to get my act together and actually start saving money for future endeavors.
  • Begin to revamp my shoe collection. These 5+ inch heels are not cutting it anymore. My feet have about zero padding left in them and just can’t handle big ass shoes anymore. I want to start replacing shoes in my collection with more sensible 3.5 – 4 inch options. And I’d like to start going for nicer quality shoes as well. In the spirit of decluttering if one pair comes, one pair must go. I think my first mission in this project is leopard print pumps. I’ve been eyeballing these and these.
  • Take better care of my hair. I abused my hair this past year and the year before and I really need to step up my game with regular trims. I always forget and then remember when I have no money. Smart Amanda. I have got to stop doing that.

Ok, so 6 goals isn’t so bad at all. I’m hoping to give a bit of energy to each one of my goals. I’d love to know what you guys are hoping to accomplish in 2015 so if you want to share just leave a comment below!
