My Favorite Places To Eat In OCMD

Hey y’all hey! Today I wanted to share with y’all a few of the places that we eat at most frequently in Ocean City, Maryland that are vegan friendly and delicious!

Just like any good meal, lets start with dessert first! Island Creamery is technically in Berlin, MD but its only a 10 minute drive and there are dozens are cute shops to pop in on their Main Street. Berlin is absolutely worth a half-day trip, especially if you have a day that’s a bit too cool or windy for beach going. When we visited a couple weekends ago they didn’t have the vegan flavors on their board but the staff member was able to tell us all of their current vegan flavors. I went with a mix of chocolate and mocha, while Austin opted for the Strawberry sorbet. All of them were delicious.

Next up is the Ocean City staple, Mother’s Cantina. Mother’s has 2 locations. I haven’t been to the Coastal Highway location, but I hear it has much more seating than the Philadelphia Ave. location. That said, the Philadelphia Ave. location is so full of cozy dive bar personality. The staff at Mother’s are knowledgable about veganism, many menu items are flexible, and they have vegan cheese! My go-to item here is the Inferno Burrito with vegan cheese and grilled veggies.

I wasn’t exactly trying to have two Mexican spots on the list one of my hometown favorites, Papi’s Tacos, just opened a new location in Ocean City. The food is just as delicious as the location we live close to, which is always a big concern of mine when restaurants have multiple locations. This location has a ton of seating and parking, which is what sometimes detracts us from going to Mother’s. The staff was so patient and kind when explaining some of the menu items to Austin’s mom, and even though they just opened, they were very knowledgable about their menu. My go to menu item at Papi’s is the Mission Style Burrito prepared vegan (they have vegan cheese!) with the picosa salsa. I also love the beans & avocado tacos and the chilaquiles.

My final recommendation is Blue Fish on the northern end of OCMD. Nothing on the menu is explicitly labeled as vegan, but like many asian restaurants you can reasonably deduce what is. The staff is always so friendly and they recently underwent a beautiful renovation. This is always a great place for us to go to with our non-vegan family. I like to start my meal with an avocado roll and then have the spicy Szechuan green beans as my entree. If I’m particularly hungry I’ll ask them to add tofu to my dish as well and they are more than happy to make the accommodation. That said, the portions are always very generous so this is a great restaurant to hit up if you want leftovers for the next day.

Last time we were down in Ocean City we checked out Happy Cow and were amazed by how many new options it seemed there were. We will have to branch out and explore some new places next time we visit.
