Life in the Time of COVID-19 | Week 16

Can you even believe we are in the month of July? I’m still a bit shocked that this year is already half way passed and that we’ve spent the majority of it within the confines of our home. Honestly, I haven’t hated it.

There are a few things I’m missing. I wish we could go out to eat with friends. I suppose technically we can but I am not convinced that eating out right now is smart or safe. I am definitely the kind of person that loves to connect over food so this has been weighing on me quite a bit. Inalso wish we could visit Austin’s mom and grandma down in Ocean City, but it just doesn’t make sense to drive 3 hours just to be stuck in a tiny condo.

Frannie has been loving every second of us being home. Austin recently installed this perch for her in my office window and its her new favorite spot in the house.

Over the past several weeks I’ve been experimenting with making stuffed crust pizzas at home. I’ve made pizza the past several Fridays so its almost become a ritual for me – pizza, wine, Drag Race. I still have some more experimenting to do but so far, even feeling like I don’t have the perfect cheese yet, its been delicious. I’ve also been seasoning my crust with everything but the bagel seasoning, which has also been very good. I don’t think I’m going the pizza route this upcoming weekend, but its definitely something I’ve been enjoying.

My mom came over for lunch on Thursday but aside from that, honestly, not a lot has happened in the past week. It was wonderful to have extra time off over the weekend to really rest and recharge.

My plants are all in grow mode, but I don’t have anything to harvest just yet. We’ve been going to the farmers market every Saturday and the produce selection there has been growing each week. I’ve been really happy to buy from and support local farms. Even with the world in the state its in right now, I’m glad I can at least achieve one of the things that was important to me for this year in eating as locally as possible.

My thoughts in summary on this week:
1. Pizza is and will always be the best food.
2. I’m totally failing at this no-buy thing.
3. I love sitting out on the deck in the morning and at sunset. Its been so energizing.
4. I’ve been using a new fitness journal and so far I’m really liking it.
