What Supplements Do I Take?

I have a confession to make. I don’t take my vitamins everyday! Gasp! I know, I’m such a naughty vegan.

Before I get into what vitamins I usually take I wanted to mention the frequency with which I take them. I am not super strict about my vitamins so I usually end up taking them every few days. I feel like I get a good diverse assortment of vitamins and nutrients from my diet and that gives me the confidence to not be such a stickler about taking vitamins. Obviously, you should always speak with your doctor about what vitamins you may or may not need.

Now lets talk about the vitamins I take.

I take the Garden of Life mykind Organics women’s daily vitamin. These vitamins are vegan and contain the recommended daily doses of several vitamins including D3 and B12 which are super important.

Since my multivitamin contains D3 I don’t always take a specific D3 vitamin. I will, however, buy a bottle of these vitamins, when the sun starts to set sooner heading into fall/winter and I get less contact with the sun.

I can’t say for sure if its actually working or if its all in my head, but I swear by monolaurin for immune boosting. I don’t take this year round and right now I’m not taking it at all since I’m literally home alone with just my husband. The second any kind of cold or bug starts to spread through the office, when we’re actually in the office, I start popping these daily and I usually manage to avoid the sickness.

I like to take a probiotic occasionally just to make sure I’m maintaining a good microbiome. I think my gut health is actually in great shape from what I can tell from my digestion so for me taking a probiotic is really just to make sure things remain in good health.

The last vitamin in my rotation is also the newest to me, Citrus Bergamot. I just recently added this to my supplement regimen because I read it could pose beneficial effects against high cholesterol. Even though I’m vegan I have a genetic predisposition to high cholesterol so I’m always interested in ways to help keep that number down. I haven’t had any blood work done since starting this vitamin so I’m not able to say with any certainty if it works, but it did have good reviews.
