Life in the Time of COVID-19 | Week 9

Hello and happy week 9! Sunday, aka Mother’s Day, had gorgeous weather so we got outside to do some work. We stained the railings on our deck’s stairwell. Those didn’t get stained with the rest of the deck last year because we had to replace the wood and by the time the wood had acclimated to the outdoors its was early fall so we pushed the staining off. We also stained our “new” bench swing that hangs under the deck. This was my first and only Facebook market place purchase (bought a while ago, not recently) and I scored it in nearly new condition for $30.

Honestly the rest of the week really flew by and not much stands out in my memory.

The Survivor finale was Wednesday. I was not thrilled will the selected winner, but I mean, I don’t really care that much. Its not like I’m competing.

I don’t even remember what day this was but I made a really delicious quesadilla this week. I used leftover breakfast potatoes and tofu scramble as the stuffing, which I will have to do again in the future because it was amazing.

Towards the end of the week we had amazing weather so I tried to soak in as much sunshine as possible before it inevitably gets gross out again. I’m pretty sure we have rain coming in the next week.

In less personal news, the governor announce that this Friday, May 15th, they would begin faze 1 of reopening society. Not all of the counties are participating, but our’s is. I think faze 1 means retail stores can reopen with safety protocols and that parks are accessible again. I’m sure I don’t know to explicitly state this, but Austin and I are keeping our asses home.

There are still so many people continuing to get sick that we just don’t see a point in risking going out in public, when we really don’t need to. We’ve been able to get everything we need delivered and we’re both exceptionally great at being home together.

My thoughts in summary on this week:
1. Fellow Marylanders, yall have fun out there in public being a bunch of lab rats. I’m staying my ass home.
2. I so appreciate having beautiful weather. It makes me feel like a whole new person.
3. This time at home really shows me I picked a partner really well.
4. Oddly enough something I do miss is having someone to clink wine glasses with (Austin doesn’t drink).
