L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24Hr Foundation Review

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24Hr Foundation

Hello my friends! Today I wanted to talk about the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24Hr Foundation. It’s been out for a while but I haven’t been able to really sit down and type a post about it until now.

So lets talk about the buying process since that comes before the application process. The color range is incredibly minimal. I purchases shade 101 Classic Ivory, which is just about right for my fall/winter skin (which, let’s be real, isn’t that different from my spring/summer skin). There are no options for those paler than me, there’s not much selection for dark skin, and since the shade range is small there is obviously little chance to mess around with undertones.

I love the packaging this foundation comes in. This flatter squeeze tube design is hygienic and great for getting every drop of product out. The texture has a good grip to it so you won’t drop the bottle mid-squeeze. The tube is a great design and I’m glad to see several companies moving towards this design.

There are several claims written on this foundation tube so let me list them out to y’all:

~ Demi-matte finish
~ 24 hour wear
~ Medium coverage
~ Air-light texture
~ Oil control
~ Never dull, never flat

That’s a lot of very definitively laid out claims so lets talk about them. Here is my before picture.

I would say this is definitely medium coverage. Demi-matte, never dull, never flat? No. This actually gives me a super matte finish to the point where it looks chalky. It takes a lot of work to make this look nice on the skin. The texture is very light. I definitely don’t feel it on my skin. I can’t say that this product controls oil, but my skin doesn’t get shiny. Instead I find that the oil on my nose just breaks down the product, almost like the oil is eating the foundation up if that makes any sense. And thus that leads to the final point, this product does not last for 24 hours. That’s a ridiculous claim. Maybe if you sat still for 24 hours and did absolutely nothing but breathe, but in everyday normal wear this will last you most of the day. At the end of the day this is going to be worn away a bit just like most other foundations.

So, how do I really feel about this foundation? Honestly, I’m a bit torn. I don’t think this is the best match for me. On the other hand, I think this could be a great foundation for someone with very oily skin who really craves that matte finish. The ingredients aren’t terrible and while the claims aren’t fully lived up to I wouldn’t say this product is a fail either. If you have dry skin I would skip this foundation altogether. And if you are like me with combination/normal skin then I would approach this foundation with caution. You can make it work, but it takes some elbow grease (or 2 rounds of Fix +).
