Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer Review

I was wandering around Walmart one day and of course the makeup aisle were calling my name. I tend to spend far too much money on makeup when Austin doesn’t come along with me to Walmart and keep me in control. These Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers looked pretty cool so I picked up Celestial and Luna. They are beautiful colors but after I bought them I heard that the deeper colors were way better than the lighter shades. That let to me picking up Big Bang, the absolutely gorgeous red, on a trip to Ulta.

Here are my thoughts on the Show Off Lip Lacquers. The lighter colors do indeed need more maintenance than the deeper colors. You have to exfoliate the crap out of your lips when you wear Luna. Celestial isn’t as bad but you still need to exfoliate or you’ll look a little bit cray. If you slapped Big Bang over slightly less than perfect lips it wouldn’t look too bad. The color pay off is almost nearly entirely opaque but it isn’t quite all the way there. I think using these lacquers to top a similar lip liner is the best way to wear them. That’s how I used Big Bang and it really amped up the opacity and wear time. These are a shiny lacquer product but after a few hours they get quite drying. Putting a balm on helps but also messes with the color payoff. I’ve found the best solution is to apply more product which seems like a bit of a waste since you don’t really need more color, just more moisture.

Overall, I do really like these products even though they take some work. I think the look they give is simply gorgeous. I actually want to get more colors, but I’m trying to be good and stop buying everything under the sun. Until I learn to shop responsibly I’ll have to be happy with these three colors.
